An Ghaeilge sa Scoil (Irish in Our School)
I measc na ngnéithe a dhéanann uathúil sinn mar scoil tá ról lárnach na Gaeilge. Agus an scoil ag fás, teastaíonn uainn é sin a chaomhnú agus a chothú. Bainimid úsáid as atreisiú dearfach agus, uaireanta, as smachtbhannaí chun é seo a chur i gcrích. Ó am go ham, ní mór dúinn measúnú a dhéanamh ar cén chaoi ‘bhfuil ag éirí linn, agus straitéisí a aimsiú le cinntiú go bhfanfaidh labhairt na Gaeilge beo beathach inár measc
(One of the features that make us unique as a school is the central role of the Irish language. As the school grows, we wish to preserve and nurture that. We use positive reinforcement and, sometimes, sanctions, to achieve this. From time to time, we must evaluate our level of success, and identify strategies that will ensure that Irish continues to thrive in our midst.)

Chuige sin, tá próiséas comhchomhairle ar bun faoi láthair. Seo a leanas roinnt de na straitéisí atá á gcur faoi chaibidil faoi láthair; fuarthas an tromlach díobh ó dhaltaí sinsearacha na scoile:
(To that end, a consultation process is taking place at present. The following are some of the strategies that are being considered; the majority of them came from our senior students:)

  • Coinneáil siar tar éis scoile (Detention)
  • Stampaí oráiste seachas stampaí dearga a thabhairt d’úsáid fhocail shinglí Bhéarla in abairt (To give orange stamps rather than red stamps for the use of single English words in a sentence)
  • Is ionann trí stampa oráiste agus stampa dearg amháin (Three orange are equivalent to one red stamp)
  • Stampa dearg a chur ar ceal tar éis tréimhse míosa/dhá mhí mura bhfaightear aon stampa eilel (To cancel a red stamp if it is followed by a 1-or 2-month stamp-free period)
  • Gan cead dul ar turas scoile do pháistí Rang 5⁄6 (children from Rang 5⁄6 not permitted to go on school tour) agus Turais Ranganna 5 agus 6 a choinneáil go dtí deireadh na scoilbhliana (and to keep the 5th and 6th Class tours until the end of the school year)
  • Sprioc a bheith ag gach rang a líon bliantúil stampaí dearga a laghdú (Each class has a target to reduce its annual red stamp quota)
  • Stampaí glasa a thabhairt mar aitheantas do labhairt na Gaeilge (To award green stamps for speaking Irish)
  • Duaiseanna a bhronnadh ar dhaltaí a fhaigheann stampa glas gach lá (To award prizes to pupils who get a green stamp each day)
  • Sprioc a bheith ag gach rang don líon stampaí glasa atá le saothrú acu, agus duais mhór a thabhairt dóibh ag deireadh na bliana má bhaintear amach é (Each class is set a target quantity of green stamps to be gathered, and they will be awarded a large prize at the end of the year if this is reached)
  • Cleachtas Aisríoch a chur i bhfeidhm (To implement Restorative Practice) Sula ndéanfar cinneadh ar bith, fáilteofar roimh tuairimí ina leith seo, nó roimh smaointe eile a chuideoidh linn an Ghaeilge a choinneáil beo, ag priomhoide@gaelscoilnalochanna.com.
(Before any decisions are made, thoughts on these, or other ideas to help us to keep Irish alive, are welcome at priomhoide@gaelscoilnalochanna.com.)

Polasaithe (Policies)
Faomhadh polasaí grianghrafadóireachta na scoile. (The school’s photography policy was ratified.)

Cúrsaí Airgeadais (Financial Matters)
Gabhaimid buíochas leo siúd a d’íoc an táille don Íocaíocht Chomhcheangailte cheana féin, agus iarraimid go n-íocfaí an chuid eile go caothúil. €85 in aghaidh an dalta an táille atá i gceist. Clúdaíonn sé seo:
(We wish to thank those of you who have already the Combined Payment fee, and ask that outstanding payments are made at your convenience. The fee is €85 per pupil. This covers:)

_______

Iomlán (Total) €85

Ní hionann é seo agus an Síntús Deonach. Úsáidtear é sin, maraon leis an airgead a thiomsaítear i rith na bliana, chun íoc as nithe a chuireann le hoideachas na ndaltaí agus a dhéanann an saol scoile a shaibhriú:
(This is not the same as the Voluntary Subscription. That, as well as the proceeds of fundraising, is used to pay for things that add to the pupils’ education and that enrich school life:)

– Múinteoirí breise (Extra teachers)
– Trealamh múinteoireachta (Teaching equipment)
– Fearas breise (Extra appliances)
– Fearas spóirt (Sports equipment)
– Ócáidí speisialta (Special occasions)

Tá €12,000 mar sprioc againn chun iad seo a sholáthar i mbliana.

(We hope to raise €12,000 to provide for these in the coming year.)

Gabhaimid buíochas, freisin, leo siúd a d’íoc as imeachtaí iarscoile. Ar an drochuair, tá roinnt imeachtai scoile, agus roinnt Íocaíochtaí Comhcheangailte fós gan íoc do na blianta roimhe seo. Beidh an Bord ag dul i dteangmháil leo siúd ata i gceist le teacht ar réiteach.
(We also wish to thank those who have paid for extracurricular activities. Unfortunately, some extracurricular activities and combined payments from previous years are still outstanding. The Board will be contacting those involved to reach a resolution.)

Tiocfaidh an Bord le chéile arís Dé Céadaoin, 24 Deireadh Fómhair 2018.

(The Board will meet again on Wednesday, 24 October 2018.)
